Eastside Eagles SOAR!
Soaring To An A
The Eastside PTO is also proud to let the community know that the school received an A on their 2007-08 report card from the State of Michigan. Eastside students display their new t-shirts that were purchased through funds from the Eastside Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Every student in the school will receive a t-shirt when they become a SOAR ticket winner.

Teaching Classrooms: A Place Where Everybody Learns! |
|
OPEN HOUSE
Eastside School will hold it's annual Open House on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. We invite parents and guardians to meet their child(ren)'s teacher in their classrooms. All teachers will be giving several short presentations between 6:30 and 7:30 PM. At 7:30 PM, please meet in the gym for the principal's brief introductory program. Eastside values the support each student receives at home. We hope to see you at Open House.
Teaching Classrooms: A Place Where Everybody Learns!
This semester Eastside will be host to its 75th intern/student teacher from Western Michigan University. Since the winter of 2003, Eastside has been a cluster site for student teachers from Western Michigan University. As a cluster site Eastside usually has between five and eight interns each semester. The education program offered through Southwest Michigan College to prepare new teachers for service is in conjunction with the four-year degree program from Western. This program allows local students to obtain a degree in education while still living at home and working in the community.
Eastside has enjoyed having each and every intern. They have added to the overall education that Eastside provides. By placing two teachers in many classrooms the school has been able to individualize instruction for more of our students. In addition, many of these interns have been hired by the Niles Community Schools and are now working in buildings throughout the district. These young people continue to be an asset to our community. Welcome to our 75th intern, and we look forward to many more in the future.
