Degrees and Certifications:
Susan Sobehrad, MA, joins Niles New Tech as an Earth Science and Chemistry facilitator. Formerly a teacher at a New Tech school in Texas, Susan was ecstatic to find a New Tech school home in Michigan. It is her belief that project-based learning authentically involves students in the learning process, preparing them for life after high school by teaching them to use the collaborative and problem-solving skills they need for success. Susan has served students in public education for over 20 years at all levels, including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate preparatory courses. She has a Master's degree in science education with an emphasis in Earth and Environmental Science. Susan is a certified New Tech Network teacher and trainer, a designation that requires deep knowledge and expertise of the project-based learning process. In addition to presenting at local, state, and national conferences, Susan has served as an instructional coach at a new technology high school, and as such, was deeply involved in project development, from ideation to implementation and improvement. In her spare time, Susan enjoys cooking, reading, and hiking.
