Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Chelsea Childs
I was born and raised in Nevada until 5th grade when it was time to move closer to family. Once we got to Michigan, we moved to Battle Creek. I went to school in the Lakeview School District and went on to attend Western Michigan University to study Elementary Education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. When I graduated from WMU in December of 2006, I knew I needed to move out of state to find a teaching job. It was in April of 2006 when I interviewed with the Clark County School District at WMU’s educator fair and got the job via a series of telephone interviews in May of 2007. We packed up and moved out to Las Vegas and I started my teaching career there. By my 5th year of teaching, I had gone back to school at Sierra Nevada College and graduated in 2012 with a Master of Education Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). For 11 years, that was our home- where we got married, bought a house, and started a family. I spent my years in CCSD teaching 4th grade for 1 year, and 3rd grade for 10 years. It was a great start to my career, but I am delighted to be back in Michigan with my family and to have a privilege to teach within a wonderful community!
