Hello! My name is Jamie Zimmerman and I teach 4th grade here at Howard Elementary. My teaching career began in 1997 when I taught Gym to the students at Ellis:) I was soon hired full time as a Title I reading teacher at Ellis. After two years, I was anxious to have my own classroom and started in 2nd grade at Howard. Can you believe I taught 2nd grade for 13 years?
As you can imagine, I needed a change! So in 2012 I moved up to 4th. My students will remain in the room for the entire day as we work in all subject areas! I am anxious to start a new year and witness the progress the students will make in 4th grade!
Because I am a lifelong learner, I have continued my education and have earned 45 credit hours beyond my Masters Degree. I currently live in Buchanan with my husband, Jamie (yes, same first name as me!) We also have two wonderful boys; Avary age 4 and Brayden age 10. In my free time I like to spend time with family, read, golf, and be in the sunshine! I also love Diet Coke and U of M!
A few important things to know about 4th grade:
*Homework will come home regularly and must be returned the following day. Independent reading is also an expectation this year. Neglecting to read and complete homework will effect your child's grades on the report card.
*A planner will be used to document homework assignments and upcoming events. It is also an important tool for communication. This planner MUST be reviewed and signed by parents daily.
*Students will be provided a break time daily and may bring a healthy snack each day.
*Our specials schedule:
