The Niles High School FIRST Robotics Team had its initial meeting on Tuesday October 5th, 2010. Fourteen students attended.
    On Thursday October Seventh, six students stayed after school and then went with Mr. Borr to LMC’s Bertrand crossing campus to visit another team in their third year as a club. The students got an opportunity to drive their robot and ask questions. We then returned to NHS at 8pm to give Mr. Richard Wallace (Sr. Engineer at Whirlpool Corp.) at tour of our facilities in preparation of NHS hosting an event in late March.

    On Saturday October Ninth, five student left NHS at 6:45am and traveled to Zeeland West High School to compete and learn at the West Michigan Regional Invitational.There were 18 teams there and our students got to observe, drive other team robots, and ask questions. We were all surprised by the enthusiasm of the teams and fans.

    On Friday October Fifteenth, We held our second official meeting in Room 70 after school. We have since met almost weekly and have grown to a group of 20 students and 3 adults.
    We will be traveling to Traverse City High School on Thursday March 3rd for our first competition. The team will return to Niles on Saturday evening March 5th.
    We will also be competing at Niles High School on Thursday March 24th through Saturday March 26th. NHS is the host school and we are expecting 40 teams and as many as 1100 people to fill the main gym on Friday evening and Saturday. Attendance is free to all.
