Ensuring a Smooth Start to the School Year: Important Steps for Parents and Guardians
Dear Niles Schools Parents and Guardians,
As we gear up for another exciting school year, we want to ensure that every student's experience begins smoothly and continues successfully. To help achieve this, we kindly request your attention to the following important steps that need to be completed before the start of the academic year:
Proof of Residency: If you have moved recently, it is essential to submit a new proof of residency. This can be emailed to [email protected]. Please make sure to also provide us with your updated address to ensure accurate student information.
If the address to where you reside changes, please notify your child's building immediately of that address change. With that address change you will also be asked to provide proof of residency via i.e. a utility bill, lease agreement or address change on your drivers license. Cell phone bills are not accepted as proof of residency.
To submit proof of residency please take a picture of your photo ID with your current address. If you have recently moved and do not have an updated ID, you may submit a rental/lease/purchase agreement or a utility bill with your name and address on it.
Change of phone number, email address or emergency contacts: If there is a change in your contact information, please email or call the school office.
Transportation Application: If your child will be utilizing transportation services, please fill out the Transportation Application for each student every year. This ensures that our transportation team can plan routes efficiently and safely. This can be found here: Transportation Form. To track your child's school bus please see here: FirstView
Immunization Records: Ensure that your child's immunization records are up to date and submitted to the school. This is crucial for maintaining a healthy environment for all students and staff. Immunization consent and retrieval form can be found here:Consent Form
School Messenger App: Stay connected with important school announcements and updates by downloading and setting up the School Messenger app. This app will keep you informed about school events, emergencies, and other critical information. Download Here
Enrollment for New Families: If you are new to our district, welcome! Please complete the enrollment process, which includes providing necessary documentation. Detailed enrollment information can be found on our website here: Enrollment Information.
Lunch Form: We ask that all families within the district to complete the lunch form, regardless of whether you plan to use the school lunch program. This form helps us determine eligibility for various educational programs and funding. We are pleased to inform you that the state has implemented a free lunch and breakfast program for all students in our district, regardless of income status. This initiative aims to ensure that every student has access to nutritious meals during the school day without any financial burden. Education Benefits Form
District Newsletter: Here is a link to the first edition of our District Newsletter. Further newsletters will be posted on our home page under District Newsletter tab.
We understand that these steps may seem detailed, but each one plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and successful start to the school year for your child. By completing these tasks promptly, you help us maintain accurate records, provide necessary services, and enhance communication between home and school.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to your child's education. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school and working together for another fantastic academic year!
