Community Demographics

Our school district is in the heart of Niles, a hamlet seated by the scenic beauty of the St. Joseph River in the southwestern corner of Michigan. Niles boasts of a history that dates back more than 300 years, and it is recognized as the oldest community in the state. Many refer to Niles as the City of Four Flags because four nations -- France, England, Spain and the United States -- have controlled the area at different times in its 300-year history.

Surrounding us are beautiful Lake Michigan, wine-making country and the fruit belt. We also enjoy the advantages of highly trained, highly motivated people, easily accessible transportation, superior services and an excellent quality of life.

Our school district serves not only families in Niles, but students in Berrien County and the contiguous counties of Cass and Van Buren, who have the opportunity to choose the school district they would like to attend through Michigan's Schools of Choice program.

Our quality of life in Niles belies the size of our city. We're a small community, but we're close to many cultural attractions in surrounding cities, including Chicago, a short distance away. That mix of urban and rural is a wonderful combination.
