What our parents are saying about Niles Community Schools...
"I would recommend Niles Community Schools to everyone." ~ Serita Mason, mother of two 10th graders at NHS
"My son is in 6th grade at Oak Manor. There are no other words to describe his experience there other than as phenomenal and fantastic. It is amazing how much he has grown from the beginning of the year to the end. Students are pushed beyond their limits and are given a special experience that other schools may not offer. My son was able to be part of a group that wrote an 8th grade research paper. I was a volunteer for this specific group and was able to see these kids do research on the topic and how to write the paper, and then see the final product. It was absolutely terrific. My favorite memory was when I dropped my son off at school and I watched him walk up to a group of his friends without looking back at me. He was being social and comfortable with them. It really showed me how much he has grown up in the last year. The staff is fantastic and each of the teachers care about their students immensely."~ Amy Gourlay, mother of Oak Manor student
"We have always had a positive experience with Niles Community Schools. My daughter is a 4.0 student and is involved in sports, the National Honor Society, and Student Council. I like that they take time to reward her and recognize her for all of her hard work. From the time she was in kindergarten through today, they have gone out of their way to do little things that really show that they appreciate her work."
~ Chrissy Timm, mother of Ring Lardner student
"We have had one son graduate from Niles High School and have another who will graduate in 2015. Our oldest was prepared for success, having just completed his second year at the University of Michigan. Knowing our youngest will be ready for his next educational setting is reassuring for us, as well. Our boys began in Niles Community Schools when they were preschool aged. They have had numerous teachers, administrators, and other school staff help to prepare them to be responsible and productive in our community.~ Doug and Joan Langmeyer, parents of a NCS graduate and high school student
"All of the teachers individualize the children based on their strengths, which has been great for my children. It is almost like home for my children because everyone is very comfortable and the teachers are always looking out for the best interest of the child.~ Sara Saylor, mother of Howard Elementary student
"Overall, the entire school has been really happy with the new principal, Mr. Hoyt. He's made great improvements - especially in the kindergarten class. Our children are excelling and not being stuck - teachers are pushing them to achieve. The school has been great with meeting the needs of our children. ~ Heather Quick, mother of Northside student
"One of our greatest decisions as parents was sending our son to Eastside Connections School. We have never seen a group of kids so eager to learn and so happy about going to school each day. We are excited about the continued growth of ECS and look forward to doing our part to help! Thank you ECS, for being you! ~ Bryan and Shannon Williams, parents of ECS fourth grader
"My son is at Niles New Tech Entrepreneurial Academy. New Tech has provided him a different experience and has forced him to come out of his shell. The school forced him to conquer his fears such as public speaking and being a leader in different situations. This school definitely laid the groundwork for his future. ~ Amy Gourlay, mother of New Tech student
"We have been part of the Eastside Connections School family for two years now with children in fourth grade and kindergarten. We chose this school as it promised the best education in our area without a ceiling imposed for academic excellence and have not been disappointed. I have seen my children grow both in academics and socially gaining confidence in themselves. Thank you to all the staff."~ Wendy Ruppart, mother of ESC kindergarten and fourth grade students
"This is our second year at Ellis and we've received nothing but huge support from them. The staff cares so much about the kids. We were going to homeschool our child, but we heard such great things about the school that we decided to give it a shot. He's progressed so much. He had surgery and his teacher texted me to make sure he was doing okay. It's really like a family. ~ Barbie Starr, mother of Ellis first grader
"This past year was our first with ECS. It blew away our expectations. The teachers are dedicated, committed, caring people that do all they can to help the students improve each day. They love what the do and it shows. They are enthusiastic individuals and provide children with goals while getting them excited to learn each and every day. The school itself is a wonderful, inviting, encouraging place, which allows children to expand their minds and grow. Project Based Learning has given our boys the confidence to do things we never imagined they could accomplish. They also have had the opportunity to participate in orchestra, guitar, choir, and even learning Chinese! Beyond that, the classrooms were so involved in various community projects from working with the Red Cross, to sponsoring a community "severe weather awareness" evening, to planting a school garden. Projects that helped teach them values, safety, and hard work.~ Alicia Podlin, mother of ESC first, third, and fifth graders
"The school is wonderful and the teachers are all very helpful. If my daughter struggles with school, the teachers go out of their way to help her, but don't single her out, which is so great. The school has a small school atmosphere where it is very personable. The staff and administrators are very approachable and friendly."~ Christie McKenzie, mother of Howard Elementary second and fifth graders
"I love the Niles High School principal. If a parent contacts her about an issue, she is on it. She is very strict with the kids, but she has to do this. I would give her 100%."~ Serita Mason, mother of two NHS 10th graders
"They made a world of difference in my son's life. He has made so many improvements since we changed schools last year. I am glad I decided to send my son to Niles Community Schools and to Howard Elementary." ~ Katie Miller, mother of Howard Elementary third grader
