Niles Virtual School welcomes all learners currently enrolled in Niles Community Schools or families from other districts interested in seeking a virtual option. We offer full time schedules, additional electives for current Niles learners, or part time schedules of non-essential classes.
The Niles Virtual School is a parent led program. What does that mean?
Parents will be expected to monitor their learners progress and cheer them along the way on their learning journey. Parents of learners in grades K-5 will need to be actively involved in assisting their learners as they navigate their courses. Older learners will need less parental involvement, but every learner needs a cheerleader and parents fill that need best. The lessons are asynchronous which means that there will NOT be a live instructor giving instruction at specific times each day. This allows learners to progress at their own pace during the semester.
Niles Virtual School has teachers that are actively and deeply involved in your childs learning. You can expect regular emails, phone calls and google meets with your Niles teacher. We have classrooms available to meet with teachers if you choose that option.
Some of our courses are created by our own teachers and some courses are provided by vendors with our teachers monitoring learner progress. All courses have been vetted through our curriculum department and then board approved. You can find a list of Niles Community Schools course offerings on our district home page or any school website.
